Corbin Van Arsdale was first elected to the city council in 2014 and re-elected in 2016. Prior to serving on the council, Corbin served on the City’s 4B and Parks & Recreation boards. Corbin has also served as the City’s Mayor Pro Tem. The city council selected Corbin to represent the City on both the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) and the Executive Committee of the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG), where he was elected Vice Chair for 2017 and Chair for 2018.
Corbin is a former member of the Texas House of Representatives, where he served from 2003 to 2009 on the following committees: Calendars, Appropriations, State Affairs, Insurance, Judiciary, and Urban Affairs.
While in the Legislature, Corbin helped pass landmark legislation on tort reform, fiscal discipline, government transparency, and economic development—which helped Texas vastly outperform the other 49 states in creating jobs and attracting capital and investment, a trend which continues to this day.
Corbin is President and General Counsel of AGC-Texas Building Branch, a statewide trade association of commercial builders. Before that, Corbin was General Counsel of Boyer, Inc., a civil, electrical, marine, and mechanical construction firm in Houston – and an attorney practicing constitutional and maritime law at the Houston law firm of Fitzhugh & Elliott.
Corbin currently serves on the following boards: Texas Civil Justice League, Texas Business Roundtable, and the Texas Comptroller’s Business Advisory Group.
Corbin is a fifth-generation Texan who attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned degrees in finance (BBA) and law (JD) and lettered in baseball.
Corbin’s wife Stephanie works at Jakovich & Perry Capital Partners, LLC, a commercial real estate investment firm. Stephanie formerly worked at Twin Lakes YMCA, Leander ISD, and Community Impact newspaper. Stephanie also worked on Congressman Michael McCaul’s first campaign staff and first congressional staff and was Congressman Kevin Brady's Campaign District Coordinator. Corbin and Stephanie have five children: Madeleine (22), Brooks (20), Dylan (20), Dawn (19), and Savannah (18).
